Elizabeth Smith

I joined the UW–Madison Child Development Lab in December 2024, bringing more than 17 years of experience in early childhood education and program leadership. My approach is grounded in building strong, caring relationships with children, families, students, and colleagues, and in creating inclusive environments where everyone feels a sense of belonging and purpose.

I hold degrees in early childhood education and curriculum and instruction, along with advanced training in program administration and teacher mentorship.

My favorite part of working at the CDL is sharing in children’s joy and curiosity- learning alongside them as they explore, discover, and grow- and collaborating with teachers and UW students to create meaningful, play-based learning experiences that celebrate each child’s individuality.

Outside of work, I enjoy exploring Madison’s parks and community events and spending time with my family.
